Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step. Many people feel unsure about what to expect or wonder whether their concerns are “serious enough” to bring to therapy.
You do not need to have everything clearly articulated before reaching out.
The process of starting therapy is simple and designed to help you feel comfortable exploring whether working together feels right.
Step 1: Getting in Touch

You are welcome to briefly share what has brought you to therapy, although there is no pressure to explain everything at this stage.
Step 2: A Free Introductory Conversation
Once I receive your enquiry, I will offer a free, no-obligation introductory conversation so we can begin to understand your needs and consider whether therapy may be helpful for you.
This informal conversation takes place by phone or online via Zoom and lasts up to 20 minutes.
It offers an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about therapy and to get a sense of how I work.
Step 3: Initial Consultation
If we decide to move forward, we will arrange an initial consultation session, which lasts 60 minutes.
This session can take place in-person, by phone, or online via Zoom.
During this time we will explore what is happening in your life and what has led you to seek therapy. It is also an opportunity for you to gain a clearer sense of how I work and whether the therapeutic relationship feels comfortable for you.
Beginning Therapy
If we decide to continue working together, we will usually meet weekly or fortnightly for 60 minute sessions.
Therapy offers a space to explore your experiences in greater depth, understand patterns in your life, and reflect on how you would like to move forward.
Some people attend therapy for a shorter period during a particular life change, while others choose to work together for longer.
Session Format
I offer in-person sessions from my private practice in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, providing a calm and confidential environment for therapy.
I also offer online and phone sessions, allowing clients to access therapy from anywhere in the UK.
Session Fees
The initial consultation and all subsequent sessions are £70 per session.
Sessions last 60 minutes and are usually held weekly or fortnightly.
Payment details will be discussed when arranging your first appointment.
